It was an absolute pleasure to attend and present at the International Conference on Literary and Film Tourism (ICLFT) hosted at the University of the Algarve’s Penha Campus in Faro, Portugal.
I had the opportunity to present some early research on, “Pottourism: Assessing the impact of Harry Potter on British tourist attractions.”
Exploring how the Harry Potter franchise continues to shape British heritage sites, visitor expectations, and destination management sparked a lively discussion. A huge thank you to everyone who attended the session—the questions, feedback, and insights from colleagues across the screen and literary tourism field were brilliant and deeply engaging.
Beyond the academic exchange, the Algarve proved to be a fantastic setting for the conference. Between sessions, we were treated to beautiful weather, exceptional local Portuguese cuisine, and wonderful wine from the region.
My thanks to the conference chairs, Rita Baleiro (University of the Algarve) and Jordi Arcos-Pumarola (CETT – University of Barcelona), as well as the entire organizing team for curating such an insightful, warm, and well-structured event.
