Guest Lecture at Donghua University – Shanghai – April 2017

Donghua University is a public research university in Shanghai, China. Established in 1951, it is a member of China’s Project 211 group of national key universities, with a heavy focus on high level technological and scientific research. I was there as a guest to lecture Event management Students on how the events industry in the UK sees Chinese consumers, and how the events industry is seeking to facilitate as well as communicate to them. I was als othere to understand their future student mobility plans.  In particular,  I was in Shanghai thanks to the Fusion Investment Fund (Santander). I was able to visit Shanghai China during April 2017, to explore the research topic:

What demotivates Chinese Students attending UK Universities: The role of perceived leisure constraints?

I wish to thank Santander for the mobility grant to visit Shanghai, and engage in a research project. The students (and staff) were eager to share their views on their future educational plans after graduation, and their perceptions of differences in country attractiveness. From differences in reputation, food cultures to transport links, it is a complex enviroment to understand the motivations of Shanghai students, and their perceptions of leisure constraints when considering studying abroad.
